Eugene V. Gill III, a student at West Orange-Stark Middle School, has been accepted into the People to People Academic Program. Gill will attend the People to People Future Leaders Summit June 21-30. He will participate at Columbia University in New York City and also at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Students accepted into a People to People program must meet rigorous academic and leadership requirements. His teachers nominated Gill his eighth grade year. He was accepted based on his scholastic merit, civic involvement, and leadership potential.

Gill’s mother, Sandra said, “He is very involved at school with the tennis and golf teams. He is also on the student council. At our church he has participated on mission trips,” said his mother, Sandra.

He recently participated in the annual Adams Bayou cleanup project.

“Eugene is very community oriented. After 9-11 happened, he was so touched that he donated the money he received for his birthday to help the relief effort,” Mrs. Gill said.
