Belva Nation “Ma Belle” Lawson, 78, of Starks, Louisiana passed away Friday, February 15, 2008 at her residence.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 19, 2008 in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.  Interment will follow at the V.F.W. Cemetery in Starks.  Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Born on November 1, 1929 in Starks, Louisiana to Pete and Anne (Howard) Nation, she was a lifelong resident of Starks, she was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxillary of the V.F.W. Post 4759 for 30 years, she also helped in the founding of the Starks Chapter where her husband was the first commander, she worked with the V.F.W. in Starks in many various capacities and she was of the Baptist faith.  She worked with many efforts in supporting the veterans and their families by preparing food and performing many community services.  She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and helping people in need.

Mrs. Lawson is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ivar B. “Scotty” Lawson, Jr. her brothers, Pat, Fred, Ned and Kenneth Nation, sister, Jane Stevenson and grandson, David.  She is survived by her children, Gwen Hutchison and husband Carroll of Starks, Louisiana, Michael Lawson and wife Sonia of Marion, New York, Scotty Lawson and wife Linda of Starks, Cris Lawson of Starks, Sandy Deranger and husband Johnny of Deweyville, Joe Lawson of Navasota, Kim Brewer and husband Jeff of Hatfield, Arkansas and Randy Lawson and wife Leigh of Lyons, New York; sister, Sadie Penick of Orange; 24 grandchildren,  great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
