Classic cars benefit local church
Several members of the Southeast Texas Cruisers, a local car club, are members of the St. Mark Lutheran Church congregation. They held a car show Saturday at Wal Mart to raise funds for the new fellowship hall they planned to build
There were about 30 cars entered. Cars continued to show up even at 2:00 p.m. They had cars from the ’20s to the present. There were roadsters, hot rods, sedans, sports cars and even a 1923 Ford fire truck.
The car show brought the people out. They were encouraged to vote on their favorite car as the milled around discussing the cars with their owners. There was a people’s choice award and a ladies’ choice award up for grabs.
You could check the cars out while listening to "retro" tunes. St. Mark also offered hot links, drinks and snacks for sell.
"King of the road", radio and t.v. personality Jim King showed up to check out the cars and gather pictures for his website.
It was good, family, fun.
