During the month of April, Orange Christian Services (OCS) will be conducting a "Food Drive Blitz" to help restock the shelves at the agency.
OCS, located in Orange, has had to buy more full-priced food than ever before. The agency is not getting as many low-cost food products from the Southeast Texas Food Bank as in the past. This is because the Food Bank has been receiving less food, and it is being devided between more agencies in the Triangle area.
OCS hopes member churches, service clubs, school children, businesses, industry, and individuals will come out to donate specific food items at one of the designated grocery store locations on one of the Saturdays in April, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Food donations will be received at the following Orange locations on the dates shown:
April 5 – Krogers, 16th Street
April 12 – Market Basket, Northway Shopping Center
April 19 – TBA
April 26 – TBA
A list of food products OCS needs most will be given out at the stores. The items are:
Peanut butter – 18 oz.
Cereal – 18 oz.
Mac ‘n Cheese – 1 1/4 oz.
Spaghetti noodles – 12 or 16 oz.
Pork & Beans – 15 oz.
Pinto Beans (dried) – 1 or 2 lb.
Jelly – 18 oz.
Canned Meats
Tomato Sauce – 8 oz.
Green Beans – 15 oz.
Corn – 15 oz.
Rice – 1 or 2 lb.
Please come out and help OCS help the needy in our community and county.
