Frederick “Freddy” Sparkman, 60, of the McLewis community of Orange, passed away Monday, April 28, 2008 at his residence.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 30, 2008 in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.  Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born on October 19, 1947 in Bastrop, Louisiana to Clyde Wesley and Elma Earline (Powell) Sparkman, he was a longtime resident of the Orange area, worked as a welder in the construction industry, formerly owned the Northway Wrecker Service in Orange and was a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam era.  A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many, Freddy enjoyed spending time with his sons and his family, riding his Honda Shadow and going fishing.  In being a devoted father, Freddy raised many boys who were without a father and he loved them as though they were his own.
Freddy is preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Tommy Rogas.  He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Sparkman of Orange; two daughters, Tori Uzzle of Houston and Tera Perkins and husband Robert of Jasper; three sons, Brandon Rogas and wife Britney, James Sparkman and fiance’ Megan Hudson and Scott Kocy all of Orange; sister, Carolyn Rulla and husband Art of Farmersville, Louisiana; three brothers, Donnie Sparkman and wife, Wanda of Orange, Stevie Ray Sparkman of Orange and James Sparkman and wife Yvonne of Houston; three grandchildren, Tana, Mari and Thomas, three great-grandchildren, his deuce men, Gavin and Devin, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  Pallbearers will be Brandon Rogas, James Sparkman, Scooter Kocy, Ricky Wood, Daniel Cogbill, Tony Falgout and Chris Robertson.  Honorary pallbearer is Thomas Sparkman.
