Texas AgriLIFE Extension Orange County and Lamar State College-Orange Continuing Education will be offering the Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes an educational program for people with type 2 diabetes. The primary goal is to help participants learn how to manage their blood glucose in the ranges recommended by the American Diabetes Association. The curriculum is specifically design to meet the needs of audiences with limited literacy skills and/or limited income. All of our programs are open to the public. This course if free to participants.  The class is scheduled from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday and Tuesdays for three weeks beginning June 2, in Orange. Lamar-Port Arthur invites Hispanic students, families to college prep night

Lamar State College-Port Arthur will sponsor a College Preparation Night for Hispanic students and their parents or guardians from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, May 22, on the fourth floor of the Student Center, 1600 Procter Street.

The event co-sponsored by the Southeast Texas Hispanic Cultural and Educational Center includes discussions about residency issues, how to register for college and how to find financial aid, scholarships and academic counseling.
Lamar State academic counselors and Spanish language interpreters will be available to answer questions. 
Students already enrolled at the college also can attend to learn more about scholarship and financial aid opportunities.

Orangefield Project Graduation

Orangefield Project Graduation will meet Tuesday, May 20th at 6:30pm in the High School Cafeteria. We are urging all parents to attend this meeting – there will be a sign up sheet for working the night of Project Graduation. The games and order of events will be discussed. Please turn in ANY and all donations and door prize items that you have collected. We are in need of bottled water for the night of graduation and also are requesting that ALL parents either bring or send baked goods, chips or snack items the night of May 31st.

The Orange Community Players will be presenting the 5th annual Broadway Fun for Funds, an evening of Broadway showtunes and dance, May 29-31, at 7:37 p.m. at the Orange Community Playhouse, 709 W. Division Street.  The event, directed by Brook Doss, is being presented to help raise funds for future improvements at the OCP.  Over 50 performers from all over the Golden Triangle are involved in the production.  Tickets are $20.00, and wine and hors d’ ouvres will be served.  For reservations at the newly renovated OCP, call 882-9137.
