Orange accident ends in fatality
The Orange Police Department reported they responded to a major accident with one fatality just before 6 a.m. Friday morning near Wal Mart at the 3100 block of Edgar Brown. Other first responders and Acadian Ambulances were also dispatched.
The accident involved a truck traveling north and a south bound passineger car attempting to turn left.
The passenger in the car, a 29 year old male from Orange, was ejected from the car when the truck struck the vehicle on the passenger side. Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Joe Parkhurst pronounced him dead at the scene.
A 33 year old female from Orange who was driving the car was transported by Acadian Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. The 45 year old male driver of the truck, a Port Arthur resident was transported to Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital-Orange by Acadian. Their condition is not known at this time.
Parkhurst has ordered an autopsy on the deceased.
The body was transported to the Jefferson County Morgue by Shaver’s Transport.
According to a statement prepared by Captain C.A. Stephenson, the investigation continues. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification to next of kin. Officers with the West Orange Police Department and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
