William (Bill) Mercer, 64, passed away on May 17th, 2008 after a long illness.  He is survived by his loving wife Linda of 43 years, his daughter Tracy Hollingsworth, husband Gary and his granddaughters, Lindsey and Rosalyn.  Also, daughter, Lynn Fincher, husband Bryan and granddaughters, Maya and Kira.  Bill and Linda emigrated from Scotland with their two daughters in 1978 and lived in Bridge City, TX until moving to the Woodlands nine months ago.  A Memorial Service is being held at The Woodlands UMC in the Robb Chapel at 11am on May 29th, 2008 with a reception to follow.  In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations sent in memory of:  William Mercer – The Gathering Place.  (Acct.no. 1318366992,  Woodforest National Bank, 3040 College Park Drive, Conroe, 77380.)

The Gathering Place is a ministry, provided in partnership with Interfaith Care Partners,  that provides fun, entertainment and friendship to people in the community who have mild to moderate forms of Alzheimer’s and related dementia.   The Gathering Places were very helpful to Bill and Linda and meet locally at The Woodlands UMC, Conroe UMC, and Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church, providing support and respite care for people with special needs and their Caregivers.
