Don Skiles, 74, of Orange, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at his home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday from First Baptist Church Orange. The Rev. Barry Bradley will officiate. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m Tuesday in Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born Nov. 27, 1933, in Elizabeth, La., the son of Wilbern and Nellie (Rougeou) Skiles, he was a papermaker from Inland-Orange and retired after 45 years. He was proud to have served his country in the Army during the Korean War. A deacon at First Baptist Church and a member of the Prime Timers Choir, he was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbern and Nellie Skiles, and brother, Dwaine Skiles. Survivors include his wife, Dot Skiles of Orange; daughters and sons-in-law, Angela Hallford and James of Arlington and Laura McMickle and Stewart of The Woodlands; son and daughter-in-law, Donald Skiles and Catina of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Drew and Jessica Hallford, Bradley and Taylor McMickle, and Alyssa and Justin Skiles; and brother, Keith Skiles of Tallahassee, Fla.
