Karen Bilbo Wilson 58, of Mauriceville passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont Friday, July 25, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 28, in the Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at The Cemetery in Mauriceville on FM 1130. A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, July 27, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Dorman Funeral Home Chapel in Orange.

Karen was born in Orange on May 27, 1950 to James F. “Buck” and Doleska “Rue” (Rougeau) Bilbo. She was an All-State Basketball player while attending Little Cypress High School in Orange, graduating in 1968. She married John Wilson June 29, 1991 in Deweyville. Among the things dearest to her were watching her grandkids play softball and baseball. She also enjoyed bowling, playing co-ed softball and loved working in her flowerbed. Above all, she loved her family. Karen worked as Laboratory Technician at Printpack for twenty years.

She was preceded in death by her father, James F. “Buck” Bilbo and her brother, James F. “Bucky” Bilbo Jr.

Those who will cherish her memory most are her husband, John Wilson of Mauriceville, daughters, Stacia, and her husband Robert Cole and Stefanie and her husband Stephen Gilbert of Mauriceville, step-children, Bret Wilson of Weatherford, Darren Wilson and Kara Wilson of St. Peters, Mo. Her mother, Doleska (Rue) Bilbo and her brother, Gary Bilbo both of Orange also survive. Karen also leaves three beloved grandchildren, Madison Cole, Raven Cole, and Taylor Gilbert all of Mauriceville.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Scott McKenney and his staff at Texas Oncology Center in Beaumont, as well as the nurses and staff in the ICU and Oncology floors at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont for their care and compassion during Karen’s illness.

Pallbearers will be: Eldon Williams, Kelly Joe Alford, Chuck Long, Jimmy Owens, James Battles, and Lyn LeBert.
