Man indicted on officer attack charges
Kenneth Edward Comeaux, 29, faces up to life in prison indictment by an Orange County grand jury for a June attack on West Orange Police Officer Dennis Hankins. He is accused of aggravated assault, taking or attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer and felony assault:
According to a statement from District Attorney John Kimbrough’s office, Hankins was attacked after responding to a domestic violence call. “After beating the officer with his fists and a weight from a weight bench, the man took the officer’s weapon,” the release said.
Indicted on felony possession of a controlled substance charges were Emanuel Leon Brackens, 21; Michael Jabor Nelson, 19; Caroline Manuel, 38; Leah Lynn White, 48; Daniel Esrie Aytes, 26; all of Orange; and Brian Hubert Henderson, 32, of Lumberton.
Facing charges of buglary of a vehicle is Dennis Wesley Quaid, 21, of Bridge City.
Other indictments released last week include:
Burglary of a habitation: Elizabeth Nicole Sonnier, 26, of Bridge City; and in a separate case, Raymond Walter Butler, 18; Nathan Joseph Collins, 26; and Joseph Hollis Walton, 37; all of Orange. The men reportedly broke into an Orange residence and assaulted a man inside.
Felony theft: Brandi Michelle Gonzalez, 26, of Orange. An employee at a fast food restaurant allegedly stole money over a period of several months.
Felony DWI: David Lee Ward, 45: and Charles Edward Burke, 51, both Orange.
Felony assault: Jason Jerome Gales, 25, of Orange, is charged with assaulting two police officers.
