A barbecue dinner benefiting two City of Pinehurst employees and their families will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles lodge located at 803 28th Street in Orange.

Animal Control Officer John Toney’s twin granddaughters were born pre-maturely at 27 weeks and weighed less than 2 pounds.

Lakyn Rae McKinney died shortly after birth. Peyton Leigh McKinney is still in the Galveston hospital after having surgery on May 27. She is expected to remain in the hospital for three to four more months.

Pam Horn, the wife of Street Department employee Randy Horn recently died after a long battle with Huntington Disease and terminal Pancreatic Cancer. The cancer spread to her liver and colon. She endured a long treatment of chemotherapy and radiation.

Randy  took a great deal of time off without pay in order to be with his wife through her ordeal.

Brisket and Link dinners with potato salad, beans, and all the trimmings will be sold for $6. Chipped Beef sandwiches with potato salad will be $3.50 Chipped Beef sandwich will be sold for $3. Links with bread will cost $2.
