Possibility of evacuation order being lifted 6 a.m. Tuesday

Last updated 9/1/2008 at Noon

Southeast Texas Emergency Management Officials and Elected Officials in Jefferson, Hardin and Orange Counties are continuing to closely monitor the progress of Hurricane Gustav. Our area is expecting tropical storm force winds and rain during the evening hours of Monday and into the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The Mandatory Evacuation order is still in effect. Citizens who have evacuated should remain in a safe location due to the possible wind and rain expected this evening.

Pending the actual impact of the storm in our area tonight, officials anticipate being able to lift the Mandatory Evacuation order at 6:00 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2.

The final decision on lifting the evacuation order will be made by officials on Tuesday morning.
