With the threat of a strong storm surge, the Orange County Emergency Management Command Center was moved from its Orange location to the Mauriceville Elementary on the north side of Interstate 10, Friday morning.

With a 15 foot surge expected in Bridge City and the possiblility of the storm strengthening to a category three hurricane, officials needed to relocate further inland.

Farmer’s market on the Port Arthur side of the Rainbow Bridge was flooded fairly early in the day, along with the road to Bailey’s fish camp.

Some homes in Orange County had already lost power shortly after 7 p.m. Friday. Winds were still mild at that time.

Local conditions will continue to be reported as  information is recieved.
