Kaz’s Fearless Forecast
Games This Week
WEST ORANGE-STARK over HAMSHIRE-FANNETT—The Mustangs got a good scare last Friday night against Silsbee and should realize that everyone brings their “A” game to the stadium when playing WO-S. H-F would like nothing better than to snap that 25-game District 21-3A winning streak the Mustangs are so proud of. But it won’t happen this week at the Longhorns’ stadium.
LIVINGSTON over LITTLE CYPRESS-MAURICEVILLE—If the Bears couldn’t keep up with PNG a couple of weeks ago and the Indians got drubbed 34-14 last Friday night by Livingston, how can we possibly forecast an LCM victory?
SILSBEE over BRIDGE CITY—If the Cardinals can avoid some of the ineptness the Mustangs displayed last Friday night against the Tigers, perhaps they can pull off a major upset against a team with ONLY one win so far this season.
HARDIN-JEFFERSON over ORANGEFIELD—The Bobcats dropped a heart-breaking 27-21 contest to Hamshire-Fannett in overtime last week and need to rebound against a Hawk team that may be a bit scrappier than last week’s foe.
VIDOR over PORT NECHES-GROVES—This should be a battle for survival as far as having any hope for a District 20-4A playoff berth. Both teams have identical (1-2) loop records and the winner should remain alive for a postseason berth while the loser will have to hope for some mathematical miracle.
DEWEYVILLE over WARREN—The Pirates came up with a very important win over favored Kountze last week and should take advantage of playing at home in this crucial District 23-2A encounter.
MCNEESE STATE over SAM HOUSTON STATE—Both teams suffered losses in their respective Southland Conference openers last week and realize another setback would virtually eliminate them from a possible berth in the postseason playoffs. The Cowboys were ambushed at home by Texas State while the Bearkats lost at Central Arkansas. This could be quite a war in Huntsville Saturday afternoon.
