Honey Bars

Nancy’s Kitchen This recipe is from my dear friend, Sunny Chesson.

During our clean-up process son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Theresa Stewart and daughter, Carol, were diligently working at, “the house” on Rose St. (can’t call it home anymore).

Sunny invited us over for a delicious, hearty meal.

For dessert, she served these wonderful Honey Bars.

Now, Dwight is not a big dessert type person.

He ate not one BUT THREE helpings of these tasty bars.

He liked them so well that Sunny sent several pieces with him to take back with them to their home in San Marcos...

they didn’t make it there.

He couldn’t resist! Thank you Sunny for having my family for a lovely meal and this KEEPER recipe.

• 3/4 cup olive oil • 1/4 cup honey • 1 egg Mix above ingredients Sift, blend and mix into above mixture • 2 cups flour • 1 teaspoon cinnamon • 1 teaspoon soda • Add 1 cup chopped pecans.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

• 1 cup powdered sugar • 1 tablespoon water • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Combine above ingredients except vanilla.

Cook frosting on tap of the stove top: stir, blending well until smooth.

Add vanilla.

Drizzle on hot cake, around sides and over the rest of warm cake.

Prepare and serve with love, Nancy
