Red Cross cooks packing up

Texas Baptist Men, a disaster-relief organization that cooked meals for the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross, stir one of their last at North Orange Baptist Church. They will leave Thursday after the noon serving.

In Photo: Volunteers Bob and Carole Crawford from Rockport, and Luke Kast (center) from Oregon, are among the hundreds of volunteers that helped local residents after Hurricane Ike. The Red Cross served aproximately150,000 hot meals in the storm’s aftermath.

The group served in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina then Hurricane Rita in 2005. They were stationed at League City after Hurricane Ike then came to Orange County.

In Bridge City a station will be set up at the BC Fire and Rescue station on the corner of Bland and Jones streets.
