The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce named Tayler Thompson as the Student of the Month. Thompson is a senior at Little Cypress Mauriceville High School. Her accomplishments include Star Student 2007-2008, ranked 11th in her class, Who’s Who Among American High School Students, Cheerleader for four years, a member of the National Honor Society and Letterman in Basketball.

Teachers say Thompson is that rare kind of leader who inspires teammates by her example, rather than with her words. She is the kind of player all coaches want: disciplined, respectful and determined. Thompson’s cheerleader sponsor, Valrie Gilbeaux, says she is wise beyond her years and the type of student who WILL be successful, no matter the endeavor. Her character and work ethic are unimpeachable. Thompson’s hobbies include cheering, basketball, track, reading and shopping. TThompson’s future goals include attending Texas A&M University to become an anesthesiologist.

Thompson was recognized by Mary McKenna, chairperson of the GOACC Education Committee and by other members of the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce as well as Superintendent Dr. Hargrove. She received gift certificates from GOACC and Independent Cosmetologist Misty Bornholdt-Winder, a drink of her choice from the Jumping Bean and a gift basket from Heaven Sent.
The chamber congratulates Thompson on her accomplishments and wishes her a bright and successful future.
