 The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce announced that it has extended the nomination deadline for yearly awards presented by the chamber at their annual meeting in January. Dec. 15 is the new deadline. Chairman contact info for the following awards are:

Kids’ benefit pageant is Dec. 13
Applications are being taken for the Poinsettia Prince and Princess Charity Beauty Pageant, to benefit various children from Bridge City who lost belongings because of Hurricane Ike.
Deadline to enter is Nov. 25; the pageant will be fromn 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at Memorable Moments by Maggie in Groves.
Anyone may enter regardless of age, location or experience. Divisions are from infant to adult, with a separate division for young boys. Attire for anyone under 13 is a nice Christmas dress or party wear. Ages 13 and up may wear a formal dress.

Christmas in the Park Saturday
The Kirbyville Area Heritage Society will host Christmas in the Park at 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 29. Santa arrives on a fire truck to start the festivities. There will be music, food, train rides and more.
“Little Christmas Cheer” contest will be held at noon. Contestants 1 to 5 years should wear their best Christmas outfits.

A Little Taste of Christmas for a Happy Holiday
Neighbors Helping Neighbors will host A Christmas Tasting to benefit Orange County families recovering from Ike.
Grace Community Church in Vidor has offered their facility to raise funds making Christmas a little brighter for hurricane victims. Tables are available for $30 and $50 to restaurants, bakeries, coffee houses, etc. to offer samples of their cuisine 2-4 p.m., Dec. 6, at 1030 n. Main, Vidor.
There will be fun activities for the kids. BASF has sponsored a snow machine. Come have an old fashioned snowball fight.
Tickets are $10 and all proceeds go to Christmas hurricane relief. Volunteers are need to help the day of the tasting.
