BC to remove illegally placed signs
The city of Bridge City has become inundated with commercial advertising yard signs.
The location of signs is prohibited in highway right-of-ways, city streets and residentially-zoned areas.
The city encourages all sign owners to remove their illegally placed signs. Failure to do so shall result in their removal by city personnel beginning Dec. 15, according to city hall.

that only two days remain to apply for FEMA assistance before the Dec.

12 deadline.

Thrift shop sets Dec. events
The Orange Thrift and Gift Shop, 350 37th St., will be closed Dec. 11 so employees and volunteers can attend the annual luncheon in Beaumont for RSVP volunteers. The shop will re-open Dec. 12, and will be closed Dec. 20-Jan. 5. They will reopen at 9 a.m. Jan. 6. Meanwhile, for the remainder of the year, a holiday clearance will be in place. There will be 25 to 50 percent off all holiday shop items. Vendors also have marked many items down as well. All clothing in the store, except coats, will be 50 percent off.

Medicare plans explained

Free community workshops will help eligible persons learn more about Medicare’s open enrollment period and the options available to them through SelectCare of Texas. The annual enrollment period ends on Dec. 31. These workshops will provide information to seniors, and their caregivers, so they may choose a plan that best suits their needs.
Seniors eligible for Medicare for the first time (ages 65 and older), those already enrolled considering switching plans and all Medicare-eligible persons are invited to attend.
The workshops are scheduled at 9:30 a.m., Thursdays, Dec. 4, 11 and 18, at the  Southern Magnolia Tea Room, 1627 Strickland Dr., Orange

MCTCU – Sounds of the Season
Students from area schools will be performing Christmas music at Orange County MCT Credit Union locations. The public is invited.
The performance schedule is as follows:
Bridge City Branch: Bridge City Middle School will perform at 9 a.m. Dec. 18 at 4837 Texas 87.
Orange Branch: Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School will perform at 10:45 a.m. Dec. 16.  West Orange Stark Middle School will perform  at 1 p.m. Dec. 17.  The credit union is located at 5401 N. 16th St.

Red Hot Flashers to meet
The Red Hot Flashers of the Red Hat Society of Orange will host their Christmas meeting at  at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 18 at the Brown Center in Orange. This meeting is for members only. Members should contact Marilyn Oldani if they have not paid their dues.
Members are to bring a $10 gift for exchange. Secret Pal members will exchange gifts and draw again for the next six months. The birthday ladies for December are: Lady Sis, Allie Rush: Lady Shiann, Shirley Ann Wolfford: and Lady Lilac, Kitty Mouton.

Cheese log orders taken through Dec. 12
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School Life Skills class has kicked-off its annual cheese log sale. Cheddar or  jalapeno logs cost $6.75 each and weigh about one pound.
