Johnnie M “Pete” Linder Sr.
Johnnie M “Pete” Linder Sr. of Bridge City, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at his home. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. George Stone will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 5 to 8 p.m at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.
Mr. Linder was born Nov. 13, 1919, in Randolf, La., to Charles O. and Artie Byrom Linder. He worked at Ameripol Synpol for 33 years as an operator. He was a veteran of World War II, stationed in Puerto Rico and obtained the rank of staff sergeant. Johnnie was a member of the First Baptist Church in ‘Bridge City.
He is preceded in death by his parenta; infant son, Gary Leo; sister, Thelma Thurman; and brothers, Garland”Sam” Linder, Cecil” Cotton” Linder and Own Linder; and granddaughter, Kim Linder Arnaud.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Floy Linder; sons, Johnnie“Skipper” Linder and wife Verna, and Larry Linder and his wife, Donna; sisters, Ruth Platt, Helen Weaver, Marie Miller and husband, Lawrence; and sister-in-law, Grace Linder; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Linder Jr., Brian Linder, Joseph Gamble, James Thurman, Butch Thurman and Tony Arnaud.
