Robert Ewart, 61, was approved as Pinehurst city manager Tuesday by city council.

Mayor T.W. Permenter said Ewart has a history of management with sales tax elections and as public works director.

Among his resume accomplishments are to have served with the cities of Vidor and LaMarque.

“We looked through all his experiences in different phases, and decided we really wanted him,” Permenter said.

Ewart replaces the retired Dan Robertson, who took over the job from the late C.R. Nash.

Ewart has a son and grandchild who live in Nederland. Next up for council is to approve a police chief, also to replace Robertson. Late Tuesday, there were about 10 persons being considered, Permenter said.

The eventual decision for Ewart was whittled down from about 25 applicants, he said.
