Larry Dale Riviere, 54, of Mauriceville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 while working in San Antonio. A remembrance service for Larry will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28 in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Born on July 16, 1954 in Port Arthur to Ray Riviere and Evelyn (Lowe) Riviere. He was a lifelong resident of the Golden Triangle area and worked as a refractory bricklayer for the ARSI Corporation. He was a longtime member of what is now the Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Labor Union, Local #5. A member of the Catholic faith, Larry enjoyed a simple but adventurous life. He enjoyed dancing, riding his motorcycle, spending time at the lake fishing and relaxing. Larry was a most devoted husband to his wife, Brenda Sue and a loving companion to his dog, Stoney. A great passion in his life was watching NASCAR. Larry was a fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr. He also enjoyed racing dirt track cars and working on their engines. Larry won a championship in 1991 in Houston for his racing abilities.

Preceded in death by his parents and two of his very dear friends, Cody Senez and Louis “Louie” Stephenson, those who will most cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Brenda Sue Riviere of Mauriceville; his step-daughter, Summer Riley of Vidor; his step-son, Ricky Wayne Riley Jr. of Lumberton; his brother, Elton Seago of Austin and a special cousin, Doug Lowe of Mauriceville. Larry will be missed by many and remembered for the lives he touched.
