Open house at BCISD
The Bridge City Independent School District will host an open house at each of its campuses the week of March 16.
Bridge City High School opens its doors to parents, students, alumni and community members for its annual open house from 6:30 until 8 p.m. March 16. A variety of student work will be on display and teachers will be available in their classrooms to visit and answer questions regarding their courses and programs.
Specific highlights include performances from the BCHS Cardinal Singers, Spanish club, and competition dance routines from the Bridge City Strutters. In addition, BCHS Art students will be exhibiting work reflecting their study of Salvador Dali’s “Persistence of Memory” as well as other pieces. Food science classes will be demonstrating various food garnishing activities. Material reflecting the tradition and history of BCHS will also be on display.
Bridge City Middle School open house will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. March 16.
The middle school band and choir will be performing in the cafeteria for the parents. The counselor and principal will be handing out information for SSI to seventh- and eighth-grade parents. Teachers will be set up in their rooms to show student work, portfolios, and projects and to answer any questions.
Hatton Elementary open house will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. March 17. Parents and patrons are invited to tour our “temporary” campus and visit classrooms to view their child’s learning environment and work samples. The Pre-K and kindergarten theme this year will be Texas. Look out for stick horses, Blue Bonnetts, “Wanted Posters” and much more.
Scholastic Books will provide their “Bookmobile” this year for Hatton’s use. It will be parked adjacent to our campus the week of open house. Parents and students are encouraged to visit the bookmobile the night of open house to peruse over and purchase reading materials for their children.
Sims Elementary‘s open house for all first- and second-grade students and their parents 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 17.
During this event parents will have an opportunity to tour the building and visit classrooms to view their child’s learning environment and work samples. Work from first-graders will demonstrate their study of the symbols of Texas and their importance in Texas history.
Second-graders will display work that follows the “All About Me” unit. They are studying space, as well as goods and services.
Sims staff will be hosting a bake sale to benefit Relay for Life which will be held at Bridge City High School stadium May 1 and 2.
Bridge City Intermediate: from 5:30 to 7 p.m. March 19. All staff members will be on-hand to greet the public.
