Bridge City Golden Girls Chapter 16865 of the Red Hat Society has begun regular monthly meetings and activities again since Hurricane Ike. Many members lost their homes and a lifetime of possessions, including their red hats. Founding Queen Mum Doreen lost her home when the storm surge rose to the rafters and has since relocated to her home state of Illinois. The former Duchess of Cornwall was elected to rule as the new queen and the remarkable Bridge City Golden Girls are again laughing, having fun and now open to newcomers.

New members are welcome to attend a regular meeting on second Tuesdays. Ladies 50 and older wear a red hat and purple top.
Ladies under 50 wear a pink hat and lavender top. During your birthday month, members reverse the colors for their age group. New members are not required to wear the hat and colors at their first gathering, but may if they choose. For more information, call 745-5417.

Members activties in the next few months include attending the matinee of “Menopause, the Musical” at the Lutcher Theater March 7; and a luncheon at Tequila’s restaurant March 10 at 11:30 am.; an Easter picnic for members and their families; a contest for best-designed Easter bonnet and ongoing house-warmings as members move from their FEMA trailers back into their old or new homes.
