Indian Lake
Joseph Michael Laroue, 53, of Indian Lake, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, at the First United Pentecostal Church on Edgar Brown Drive in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev. Gary Wheeler, pastor of the church. Interment will follow in Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.

A native and lifelong resident of Orange, he was born on March 12, 1956 to Cecil and Jo (Clark) Laroue, he had worked as a ship fitter for the Levingston Shipbuilding Company in Orange as well as other companies in the area. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Orange and enjoyed spending time with his family. Michael was a simple kind of man who enjoyed watching western movies, reading western novels, spending time with his two dogs, Molly and Little Red, on his back porch. He adored and spent much time with his granddaughter, Kylah Renea’. 

Michael is preceded in death by his brother, Steven Allen Laroue.
Those who will most cherish his memory are his parents, Cecil and Jo Laroue of Orange;  daughter, Sherie Barker of Orange;  granddaughter, Kylah Renea’ Barker of Orange; sisters, Sondra Gillis and her husband Mike of Hemphill and Donna Granger and her husband Wayne of Port Arthur; Michael is also survived by many nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
