Vivian K. “Pete” Babineaux, 58, of Mauriceville, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Harbor Hospital of Southeast Texas in Orange. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev.A. R. Dougharty. Interment will follow in Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. 

Born on Aug. 31, 1950 in Port Arthur to William Thomas Hickey and Mary Elizabeth (Elmore) Hickey, she had resided in Mauriceville since 1983. She had previously lived in Pinehurst and was of the Baptist faith. Pete was a very simple but big hearted lady who enjoyed doing plastic canvas needle work and various other crafts. She enjoyed playing Yatzee and Bingo and spending time with her family, often being a caregiver and always willing to help those in need. 

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Babineaux; and her brothers, John Thomas Hickey, Michael Ray Hickey and Williams James “Red” Hickey. 

Those who will most cherish her memory are her son, Milton Earl Killen and his wife Ericka Marie of Buna; brothers, Arthur Hickey and his wife Peggy, Charles Hickey and his wife Marilyn all of Mauriceville; granddaughters, Shelbea Permenter and Caitlyn Permenter; nieces, Hope Netterville; Lucretia Pevey,her husband Mike and their sons Ryan, Lane and Slaydon; Melissa Bearden, her husband Ray and their children, T. J. and J. R.;  and her nephew, Chad Hickey, his wife Jennifer and their son, Jordan. 

Pallbearers for the service will be James Stansbury, Michael Deming, Chad Hickey, Ray Bearden and James Lemaire. Honorary pallbearers are Arthur Hickey and Mike Pevey.
