School board filings for the May 9 elections will see opposition in the West Orange-Cove, Vidor and Little Cypress-Mauriceville districts.

There were no filings in the Orangefield district since it switched to even-numbered years, similar to Orange County elections.

• In Bridge City, running unopposed for board slots are incumbents Lon Hubbard, Place 1; and Kirk Ellender, Place 2.

• In West Orange-Cove, for at-large seats, are incumbents Pete Amy and Eric Mitchell; challenged by Erick Guillory, Essie Bellfield and Richard “Dicky” Taylor III. • At Little Cypress-Mauriceville, filing unopposed for Position 5 are Don Anderson, and unopposed for Position 2, David Jones.

Filing for Position 4 are Keith Adams and Kent Crow, both challengers.

School board member Donna Scheer has decided not to run for re-election.

• In Vidor, Rollie Burr filed unopposed for Position 1, which is vacant.

Also, incumbent Mike Quinn, Seat 2, is being challenged by Rick Powell.
