The baseball showdown of the season will take place Friday night when the undefeated Bridge City Cardinals and hot on their trail the Orangefield Bobcats face off at Paul Cormier Field.

The Cardinals (15-2-1, 3-0) and Bobcats (15-6, 2-1) have both posted exceptional baseball.

The Cardinals defeated the West Orange-Stark Mustangs 12-0 in five innings last night.

The Bobcats let a 7-3 fifth inning lead slip away and fell to Silsbee 9-7.

No doubt the he rock-em sock-em Bobcats will be out to even the score with the Cardinals in Dist. 21-3A. The Bobcats have pounded the ball all season with sluggers Jacob Felts, Derek Evans and Jace Statum slamming opponents. Statum, Zach Peevey and Brock Whitson are a strong pitching crew in the Bobcat arsenal as well.
The Cardinals, however, are toughest under pressure. They have slated several come from behind or extra inning wins. They brought home the Nederland Bulldog Classic championship before district action began.

The Cardinals defeated the tough Silsbee Tigers 4-3. The final score coming in the bottom of the seventh inning, Friday.

Matt Hicks and Anthony Cessac get plenty of time on the hill for Big Red. Infielders Blake Hubbard, Joseph Robertson and Blake Snyder have been mainstays in the Cardinal defense. But anyone in the lineup is capable of forcing a win. Grant Encalade and Eric Mathews can make it happen and do.

The Cardinals are led by first year head coach Chad Landry. The Bobcats rally behind head coach Jeff  Bennett.

The action begins at 7:00 p.m. Be there. The Record will be.
