J.W. Vasek, 73, of Orange, passed away Monday April 20, 2009, in a local hospital. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dorman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Rawls officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Dorman Funeral Home.

J. W. was a resident of Orange since 1942 and was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Claudine Vasek; and a brother Jimmy Vasek.

J. W. is survived by his wife, Nelda Vasek of Orange; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Mary Jane Vasek of Culleoka, Tenn.; son, Kevin Vasek of Orange; sister and brother-in-law, Claudette and Randy Badgett of Mont Belvieu; grandchildren, Celina Thornton, Megan Vasek, Donnavon Vasek, Bobby Vasek and Josh Vasek; great-grandchildren, Isabel Thornton, Tristan Thornton, Jeramie Vasek and Aidan Vasek.

Pallbearers will be Scott Thornton, Terry Bassham, Jeff Lewis, Gary Copeland, Colin Copeland, Phillip Dupuis, Darren Copeland and Ryan Hyde. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles “Red” Leggett, Sonny Davis, Caleb Tubbleville and Larry Copeland.
