Cleta Marie Bailey Ashcraft, 90, of Orange, died Monday, May 4, 2009, at The Meadows in Orange. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange, with her son, the Rev. Lynn Ashcraft, officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until service time on Tuesday. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Waco. The family will receive friends at the cemetery beginning at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Born in Abbott on July 12, 1918, Mrs. Ashcraft was the daughter of Jim Robert and Ada ( Kirkland ) Bailey. She was a former long time resident of Waco where she was a homemaker and also worked as a cashier at Hillcrest Hospital, retiring after seven years of service. In 1993, she moved to Orange to be near her children and became a member of North Orange Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by her husband, Alvy Lloyd Ashcraft, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. and Mrs. Lynn Ashcraft; granddaughter, Lynae Sanford and her husband, Dr. Jerry Sanford; great-grandchildren, Dyllon Sanford and Rebecca Sanford, all of Orange; sister and brother-in-law, Allene and Don Lummus of Waco; brother-in-law, J.B. Caldwell of Mockesville, N. C.; three nieces and two nephews.
