They never lost their fight, but in the end, the Bridge City Lady Cardinals fell in Game Two and Game Three of the of the bi-district series Saturday against the Huffman Lady Falcons.

Huffman (25-5) took Game Two, 8-5, and dominated Game Three 10-0 in five innings.

Highlighting the series for the Lady Cardinals was the third inning three run homer by Lady Cardinal first baseman Valerie Brown in Game Two.

The Lady Cardinals (17-14) defeated the 11th ranked Lady Falcons, 4-3 in eight innings during Game One of their best-of-three series Friday night in Lady Cardinal Field.

The losses brought to a close the high school softball careers of Lady Cardinal seniors Mallory Guidry and Sarah Armand both four year veterans of playoff seasons for Bridge City.

First year head softball coach Miste Henerson has plenty of talent left to work with next season. The Lady Cardinals will return five juniors, five sophomores and two freshmen from the 2009 squad.

The Lady Falcons advance to the area round and will face either West Orange-Stark or Taylor

in the 3A Region III quarterfinals. WO-S will face Taylor Wednesday

night at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville at 7 p.m. for a one game winner-take-all.
