WOS crowned champs at regional track meet
It was West Orange-Stark’s day for the boy’s team Saturday at the University Interscholastic League Regional Track Meet. Winning both the 4×100 and 4×200 relays, 100 meter dash, claiming 2nd and 3rd in the Long Jump gave them the regional championship.
Trey Franks won the 100 meter dash in a new regional record time of 10.39, that was later adjusted for wind at 10.73.
Phillip Jones finished 2nd in the 110 meter hurdles with only one shoe in 14.76, having lost his shoe during the race.
In the long jump, James Haynes came in 2nd with 22-07.75, while Trey Franks claimed 3rd with 22-06.25.
The WO-S girls are also to be commended coming in 2nd in both the 4×100 and 4×200 relays.
Bridge City and Orangefield did not fair as well with no one qualifing for state.
Bridge City’s best finish was Kirby Sheperd taking 3rd in the 800 meter with a time of 2:00.34.
Justin Reynolds placed 4th in the high jump with a leap of 6-02.00.
Tim Cude came in 7th in the 1600 meter with 4:45.55 and 6th in the 3200 with 10:53.51.
Orangefield’s best showing was Allie Beach, 6th in the Discus with a throw of 104-5.
