Orangefield High School held it’s annual Athletic Banquet Tuesday night at the Sunset Grove Country Club.  The entire coaching staff was on hand to honor all of the athletes that participated in any sport at the high school level.

Varsity Volleyball Coach Kristinn Holbrooks started the evening the way she prepares her team before every game, with an inspirational and uplifting poem, and then recognized all of the Volleyball players.

Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Blake Morrison was up next to recognize the football program.  He admitted that he was not a poet, and stated that if he had to come up with a poem, it would sound something along the lines of, “Roses are red, Violets are Blue, now go knock some guys head off” after which he stuck to sports.

Every athlete was recognized in all sports, volleyball, football, power-lifting, basketball, track, cross-country, tennis, golf, softball and baseball.

Toward the end of the program, the Athletic Booster Club, represented by Damon Judice thanked the community of Orangefield for supporting the athletes and sporting programs and because of their support, they were able to give $15,000 back to the program due to their fund-raisers through out the year.

The booster club also announced two scholarships in the amount of $500 each, one to Olivia Wagner and one to Cody Ballard.

Coach Derrick Peveto was on hand to announce the recipients of the Ed Peveto Memorial Scholarships in the amount of $6000 each, Olivia Wagner and Zach Peevey.

To conclude the evening, Coach Morrison announced the male and female Athlete of Year, Allie Beach and Zach Peevey.
