West Orange-Stark High School graduates will take their final walk at 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, at Dan Hooks Stadium. 

Zeba Nizami has been named the valedictorian of the 2009 graduating class.  She is the daughter of  Mr. and Mrs. Aslam Nizami.  

Throughout high school she has maintained a position on the All “A” Honor Roll and had perfect attendance. She was a Stark Reading Finalist for 2009 and the second place winner in 2008. For three years Zeba received the 1-Star Summa Award, receiving the 1-Star Magna Award for 2009.

She has earned various math, social studies, and Spanish Awards and has competed in UIL events in math, science, social studies, and current events.

Extra curricular activities include the National Honor Society, Student Council, Foreign Language Club – Historian, Culinary Arts Club – President, Secretary, Student Leadership Team, and Key Club.

Religious activities include working in the Religious Education Center, Excite Counselor, Youth Club Member, Student Government for REC, and as a FOCUS helper.

Zeba will attend Lamar State College-Orange and major in Pre Med.

Rebekah Mahala Ragsdale is the Mustangs’ salutatorian for 2009.

The daughter of Randy & Paula Ragsdale, she is a two year member of the National Honor Society, three years in the Key Club, member of the advanced theater, four year member of the WOS Student Council, served as her junior and senior class president and placed 1st in the University Interscholastic League Prose Reading Competition.

Ragsdale also served as a member so the newspaper and yearbook staff her sophomore year.

A four year member of the Fillies drill team, she received the Rookie of the Year award her freshman year, rose to 2nd Lt as a sophomore, 1st Lt as a junior and captain her senior year.

She lettered all four years in varsity softball as a starting pitcher. For three years, Ragsdale was chosen as a member of the Orange Crush Gold Select Softball Team as a pitcher.

Ragsdale will attend Galveston College and major in Kinesology.
