The Bridge City High School Class of 2009 celebrated commencement exercises at Larry Ward Stadium in Bridge City Friday evening. The occasion was moving, sometimes humorous and a testament to the resilience of the students and the Bridge City community.

Bridge City's Class of 2009 experienced three hurricanes since they became freshmen. Hurricane Rita in 2005, Hurricane Homberto in 2007 and Hurricane Ike last September.

But on this night, seniors embraced beneath stadium lights and a fireworks display and stepped into the future sharing their final gathering at Project Graduation.
