Yolanda Louise Bertrand, 82, of Orange, passed away Friday, May 29, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services were  Monday, June 1, in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating was the Rev. Raymond Dowden. Interment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange. 

Born on April 6, 1927 in Erath, La., she lived in the Orange area for 56 years and was of the Baptist faith. She worked as a cook in the food service department of the West Orange-Cove C.I.S.D. and the Little Cypress-Mauriceville I.S.D. Mrs. Bertrand was a simple lady who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bertrand is preceded in death by her husband, Carrol Joseph Bertrand; her son, James Mitchell Bertrand and her numerous brothers and sisters. 

She is survived by her daughter, Diana Smith of Orange; granddaughter, Dona Alvarez and her husband Juan Antonio of Orange; grandson, Gale Smith of Hemphill and six great-grandchildren. 

Honoring Mrs. Bertrand, as pallbearers were Antonio Alvarez, Gale Smith, L. J. Babineaux, J.R. Hardin, Scott Roberts and Frank Turner.
