Orange County Precinct 2 Constable Robert Strause, along with special agents with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearmes arrested Shirley McMillion around 7:30 a.m., Wednesday morning. The arrest warrant, obtained from a federal magistrate was for felon in possession of a firearm and stemmed from an earlier incident.

A few weeks earlier, Stause had gone to the home on Tulane after several complaints from nearby residents concerned about drug activity at the house.

Strause spoke with Mcmillion and gained consent to search the house. As he began the search, Strause observed McMillion place her hand under a pillow of the couch.  Strause removed the woman’s hand and took the gun from her. 

McMillion, a convicted felon, could face federal charges with a punishment range of 5 to 10 years.
