BC Cheerleaders win bid to Nationals
The Bridge City High School Cheerleaders attended National Cheerleaders Association cheer camp in Galvestion last week. While they were there, they learned cheers, chants, dances, stunts and leadership skills.
Each night they had evaluations and received superior ribbons and a spirit stick. The entire varsity squad was nominated for All-American. Out of the 12 team members, Shelby Richard, Alexa Richmond, Chelsea Graham, Blair Bishop, Maddy Bray, and Jordan Cricchio were selected as All-American Cheerleaders for NCA. As a team the girls received the Herkie Team Award (chosen by NCA Staff for the team that shows genuine team unity and spirit throughout the entire camp) and the Spirit Award (chosen by all of the schools at the camp that they believe have shown the most spirit all week) and a bid to NCA’s National Championship in December.
On top of all of this, Shelby Richard earned the Leadership Award for showing the best leadership skills as head cheerleader throughout the entire camp and Alexa Richard was asked to be on the NCA staff for next summer.
Their very own “Big Red,” Lauren Quarles, received a superior ribbon, for the most creative story on how “Big Red” was created and received Most Improved Mascot at camp.
Michelle Huff is the varsity cheer coach.
The Freshman/JV squad won the Champion Chant Award, superior ribbons, spirit sticks and a bid to Nationals. Lari Navarro, Brooklyn Hogden and Lacey Monceaux made NCA All-American Cheerleader.
The Fresh/JV squad’s sponsor is Arron Conner.
