I had a request from D for ice cream that you crank. I can remember having to sit on the ice cream maker when I was a child. It was fun because I knew that it wouldn’t be long until we would have all of the ice cream we could eat. Our freezer was a five gallon one.
Charles and I have a one gallon and our son, Bill has a larger one, so I asked him for his recipe. You are going to need two 10 pound bags of ice and a box of ice cream salt. After you have the ice cream in the freezer, follow the directions on the salt box to know how to continue.

• 6 well beaten eggs
• 3 teaspoons of vanilla
• 2 cups sugar
• 2 cans sweetened condensed milk
• milk as needed

Blend first four ingredients well in a bowl and pour into freezer. Pour a small amount of milk into the bowl to get all the eggs and condensed milk out of the bowl and pour it into the freezer. Add additional milk as needed to reach the milk line inside freezer. Do not over fill.

For one gallon freezer

• 3 well beaten eggs
• 1 1/2 cups sugar
• 2 teaspoons vanilla
• 2 cans evaporated milk (not sweetened condensed)
• milk as needed

Mix as before and fill to milk line. Fresh fruit can be added to ice cream, best if it is pureed.
After ice cream is made allow to sit for a while to better firm it up.
Have fun. It is Gooder’n Syrup. Von
