Church re-opening
First Church of God, 911 Main Ave. in Orange is celebrating re-opening with Sunday services starting at 0:30 a.m. The congregation had services at the Family Worship Center in Orange because of damage from Hurricane Ike. For more information, call Pastor Sid Thorne at 883-6802.

Feast of St. Helen celebration
St. Helen Catholic Church of Orangefield will celebrate the Feast of St. Helen Aug 16-18 with several activities. There will be a family movie night Sunday-more details to follow. Monday there will be a mass at 6:30 p.m. followed by adoration. Tuesday the benediction is scheduled for 6 .m., with Mass 6:30. A covered dish meal will follow ending with a basket raffle.
Help is needed with the various activities as well as baskets for the raffle.
Sign-up sheets are on the back table in the hall for help and to donate a theme basket. There is also a sign-up sheet for those planning to attend.

Barbecue dinners to be sold

St. Helen Knights of Columbus will have barbecue lunches available at 11:30 a.m., the morning of Aug. 20. All lunches will be pre-sold.
Orders are being taken now and will be take-out only. They will have chicken, sausage, baked beans, potato salad and bread. See one of the Knights of Columbus to place your order now or sign up at the back of the church.

Anayat House serves community

Anayat House has been serving Beaumont and the surrounding communities for 15 years. Located within walking distance of Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, they offer overnight accommodations for the family members of patients in our area hospitals, especially those in intensive care units and for out-patients.
