Wayne R. Ford, 84, of Orangefield, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, in his home with family by his side.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City. Officiating will be Klem Pruitt. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Wayne was born in Dorchester, Texas on Dec. 2, 1924, son of Louis Olney Ford Sr. and Mae (Turley) Ford. Wayne was a member of the Odd Fellows and First Baptist Church Orangefield. He was a former owner of L and R Video and Ford Dump Truck. Wayne enjoyed watching Cubs baseball and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Bell Ford; son, James “Butchie” Ford; and brothers, Louis Olney Ford Jr. and Billy Joe Ford.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Linda Ford of Beaumont; daughter, Donna Gail Ford of Orangefield; grandson and best friend, Chris Ford of Orangefield; siblings, Evelyn Bernard, J.T. Ford and John Ford all of Bridge City; and sister-in-law, Laverne Granger of Orangefield.
