Grab some lawn chairs, a cooler of favorite beverages and mosquito repellent (just in case) Friday and head down to Community Center Park in Bridge City.

Jackie Caillier and the Cajun Cousins, along with Chris Miller and the Bayou Roots plus friends will treat Bridge City citizens to a free concert.

Hosted by the Bridge City Lions, the concert is set from 7-11 p.m. President Travis Nation said the event is being called the Stress Relief Concert. “We want everyone to relax and enjoy themselves,” said Nation. “And everything is free.”

The idea came about when Caillier approached BC Lions vice president Wayne LeLeux, saying he wanted to perform for the citizens and asked the Lions to host it.
“When we brought it to them, the city council went nuts over this,” said Nation.
Lions and Caillier scheduled the concert this week because they didn’t want to interfere with the city’s Hurricane Ike celebration on Sept. 13.
Many businesses have donated goods or services including: a trailer to use as a stage, air conditioning for the bands, water, Gatorade, fliers and door prizes; and the city of Bridge City is donating security.
Just a few of the sponsors are: Giglio Distributing Co., Thermacon, AbClean, DuPont, Signal International, Oil Patch Hose and Supply, Central Office Supply, Burger Town, Flippers, The Record Newspapers and Nation Gift.
Items for door prizes are still being collected. To donate, offer services or for more information call (409) 779-2334 or (409) 769-0800 and ask for Nation.
