Brett Simpson, 23, son of JoAnn and Guy Priddy of West Orange runs the Orange County Courthouse first-floor concession stand. “I really like my job,” said Simpson, who has been at the stand for about three weeks.

The stand has been operated by a visually-impaired person since the ‘60s when the late Frances Staley ran it.

In 1979 it passed to Burt Hardwick, who ran the counter until retiring this year.

The stand was, for years, simply called “Burt’s Stand” and now changes to “Brett’s Stand.”

Simpson, an active member of the Texas Federation for the Blind, is a 2006 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School and a former PN-G student council member. He is also a working DJ.
