Nichols Creek
Frances Ann Blount, 68, of the Nichols Creek community near Buna, passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in Houston. Funeral services to remember her life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev. David Millner, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church in West Orange. Interment will be in Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in the McLewis community of Orange. A gathering of family and friends for a time to share memories will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. 

Born on Oct. 25, 1940 in Orange, to Earl Hugh Duhon Sr. and Bessie Ann (Henry) Duhon, she was a longtime resident of the Orange area and moved to Nichols Creek in 1993. Frances worked in various capacities which included being a nurse’s aide, a custodian with the Buna School District and she also worked with and later became the coordinator for the Red Cross Swimming Program at the Natatorium in Orange. Frances was a simple person who enjoyed spending time with her family and she always made sure to never be a burden on other people. Frances will be remembered by her family and friends as a lady with a loving heart and a giving spirit. She often spent time crocheting afghans for the babies of friends and family members to give as gifts. 

Frances is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne Rushing Bloun; and her step-father, Joseph L. Duffey. 

Those who are mourning her passing and will most cherish her memory are her sons, Darryll Wayne Blount and his wife, Jennifer of West Orange, Steven R. Blount and his wife, Cara of Orange and Terry Blount and his wife Donna of Richmond, Va.; brother, Earl Hugh Duhon Jr. and his wife, Betty Ann of Mauriceville; grandchildren, John Blount, Savannah Blount, Samantha Blount and Nikohl Blount; great-grandchildren Azlynn Blount, Annaliese Blount and Zackarie Blount. Frances is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
