Symphony receives donation from Entergy Texas, Inc.
Joe Domino, center left, president and chief executive officer of Entergy Texas, Inc., is surrounded by Entergy Texas employees as he presents a $5,000 check to Craig Escamilla, executive director of the Symphony of Southeast Texas. The contribution will be used to help fund the symphony’s Master Series 4 Concert on April 10, 2010.
The concert will be co-sponsored by TOTAL Port Arthur Refinery and will mark the 10th anniversary of the Symphony of Southeast Texas Chorus performing in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. The concert will also feature a work by Aaron Copland entitled “A Lincoln Portrait.”
Evelyn Lord, former Beaumont mayor, will serve as the narrator for the work.
The concert will emphasize the Southeast Texas community, with a general theme of brotherhood and community.
Since Entergy Texas began making contributions to the symphony in 1998, a total of $200,000 has been given to help the organization.
Joe Domino has been a Board member since the 2000-2001 concert season, serving as president in 2002-2003, the orchestra’s 50th anniversary season.
