Joseph Lawrence Duffey, 79, of Orange, passed away Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009 at the Pinehurst Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Pinehurst. Cremation arrangements have been provided by Dorman Funeral Home in Orange with Interment in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Orange. Joe’s family wishes to invite the family and friends to a memorial celebration to remember Joe’s life and share his memory from 3 p.m.. until 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3 at the residence of Michael and Wanda Johnson, 2106 West Park Avenue in Orange. 

Born on June 26, 1930 in Waynesboro, Pa. to John Francis Duffey and Clara Ruth Marker Duffey, he was a longtime resident of the Orange area. He worked for Hudson Salvage in Orange for 26 years, served his country as a Boatswains Mate Third Class in the U. S. Navy from 1948 until 1957. Joe married his wife, Rosalie Durio on Aug. 8, 1998 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Orange. He was well known by his many friends for his likeable personality and sense of humor. He would often tell his wife she needed to teach her dog to dial 911 so that if she got into trouble help would come. 

Joe is preceded in death by his parents. His stepdaughter, Frances Blount passed away just after Joe did. 

Those who will most cherish his memory are his wife, Rosalie Durio Duffey of Orange; stepchildren, Sandy Babin and husband Al of Orange, Michael Johnson and wife, Wanda of Orange, Roy Johnson and wife Sharon of Dallas, Earl Duhon Jr. and wife, Betty Ann of Mauriceville, Linda J. Teal of Chicago, Ill., Vena Teal Kourtney of Orange and Susan Denise Teal of Orange. Joe is also survived by his cousin, Linda Embly of Smithburg, Md.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a multitude of friends.
