One brother shot, the other in jail

An altercation between brothers Sunday ended with one shot and air lifted to the hospital, while the other one was sent to jail.

Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded around 2:20 p.m., Sunday to 3291 E. Claire Drive concerning a reported shooting.

On arrival, deputies found the victim, Bryan Lee Nunez, a 43 year old Orangefield resident in the front yard of the residence, an apparent victim of a gunshot wound.  Nunez was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital via air ambulance and underwent surgery.

Upon investigation and speaking to witnesses at the scene, it was determined that an altercation had occurred at the residence between two brothers. During the altercation, Ronald James Nunez pulled out a handgun and shot his brother. The victim confirmed to deputies he had been shot by his sibling.

Ronald Nunez, a 50 year old Orangefield resident, was at the scene. He was placed under arrest for aggravated assault and transported to the Orange County correctional facility.

His bond will be set after arraignment on the charge.

The investigation is being conducted by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
