Bridge City
Otis H. Osborne, 77, of Bridge City, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at Baptist Hospital in Orange. Following a visitation with the family Monday evening, cremation took place at Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory in Beaumont.

Mr. Osborne was born in Williams, Okla. on April 19, 1932.  He was the son of Constance (Hargrove) and Oatis H. Osborne and has been a resident of Bridge City since 1968. 

He was a graduate of Lane Technical School in Chicago and the United States Army Security Agency School in Fort Devens, Mass.  He served in the U.S. Army as a communications specialist and was promoted to the rank of sergeant prior to being honorably discharged in 1957.  

Mr. Osborne began his career with Betz Laboratories in 1958, and was promoted to superintendent of the company’s Chicago, Ill. plant one year later.  In 1967, he was promoted to plant supervisor of the Orange facility and then in 1970, he became plant manager of the Orange plant.

During his career at Betz’ Orange facility, Mr. Osborne played an active role as a member of the Orange Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 49 and the Kiwanis Club. 

He is survived by his wife, Connie Osborne of Bridge City; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Lisa Osborne of Orangefield; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Kenneth Lipe of Westmont, Ill. Also surviving are his five grandchildren, Sandra Hopkins, Ken Lipe, Meagan Osborne, Ethan Osborne, Lacey Guidry; five great-grandchildren; and nephew, Jim Rogodzinski and his wife, Denise, of Oklahoma.
