Josiah Phillip ”Joe” Jones, 22, of Mauriceville, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2009 at his residence. A service to remember his life will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the Chapel of Dorman Funeral Home in Orange.  Officiating will be the Rev. David Berkheimer, pastor of Community Church in Orange.  A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.  

Born on Dec. 23, 1986 in Galveston to parents Darwin Alvin Jones and Michelle (Phillips) Jones, he had lived in Nederland for a brief time and lived in Mauriceville since 1992. Joe attended Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School and worked as a flooring installer.  Joe will be remembered as a guy who was good hearted, enjoyed hunting, fishing, making people laugh and helping others. 
Preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother, Edna Sandifer; maternal grandmother, Janet Theresa Phillips; maternal grandfather, Merton Vernon Phillips; and his paternal grandfather, Marshall H. Jones. 

Those who will most cherish his memory are his parents, father, Darwin “D. J.” Jones of Mobile, Ala. and mother, Michelle Jones of Mauriceville; paternal grandmother, Donna Jones of Mobile; brothers, Todd Jones and Aaron Jones of Mauriceville.  Joe is also survived by numerous extended family and friends.
